Many Ancient Civilizations had the Sun as a Guide, and even some as worshiping Symbol. Even though they were separated by oceans and great distances. Were they somehow connected?

El Castillo at Chichen Itza with Snake Shadow at Equinox

El Castillo Pyramid, Chichen Itza, Yucatan, Mexico, played the role, among other things, of marking the spring equinox in a public and dramatic fashion. To the left is a picture of El Castillo at the time of the spring equinox. The shadows trace out an immense snake slithering down the side of the pyramid (this happens only on this special day). Such dramatic demonstrations had more to do with impressing the public with the power of the priests than low-budget astronomy, but they did require accurate observations and major efforts to understand them.

The Sun Temple of the Dolls, Spring Equinox, Yucatan - Mexico

The Sun has risen on the spring equinox at Dzibilchaltun.Yucatan. Mexico. On this day the temple itself frames the rising Sun through its central doorway. At other times of the year, the Sun will appear to the right or left, which is either further to the north or south, deviating the furthest from this path we see here on the solstices. Taken in 2005 at Dzibilchaltun, Yucatan Mexico

Dresden Codex

One of the most interesting discovered texts of the ancient world, the Dresden Codex contains many of the intricate predictions of seasonal, ceremonial and astronomical variations discovered by the Mayans.
The Dresden Codex has been used by some to predict changes in weather, planetary movement, lunar phase shifts and even the end of time itself. Many have suggested the last page of the codex depicting a celestial serpent spewing water– indicated that the earth will be destroyed by flood on December, 21 2012.
