Fractals – Nature’s Infinite Designs

We are living in a Fractal HOLOGRAM ! ( 10 mins)

PBS Nova - Fractals - Hunting the Hidden Dimension ( 54 mins)

Mysteriously beautiful fractals are shaking up the world of mathematics and deepening our understanding of nature.

A fractal is "a rough or fragmented geometric shape that can be split into parts, each of which is (at least approximately) a reduced-size copy of the whole," a property called self-similarity.

Fractals: they're famously found in nature and artists have created some incredible renderings as well. Fractals are purely a wonder -- too irregular for Euclidean geometry; iterative and recursive and seemingly infinite. They turn up in food and germs, plants and animals, mountains and water and sky.

“The Fractal Geometry of Nature”

Benoit Mandelbrot

Author of The Fractal Geometry of Nature and studies showing the fractal nature of market prices, especially including longer term research on cotton price series. Born 20 November 1924 he is a French and American mathematician, best known as the father of fractal geometry. He is Sterling Professor of Mathematical Sciences, Emeritus at Yale University; IBM Fellow Emeritus at the Thomas J. Watson Research Center; and Battelle Fellow at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. Mandelbrot was born in Poland. His family moved to France when he was a child, and he was educated in France. He is a dual French and American citizen. Mandelbrot now lives and works in the United States.

The Colours of Infinity: The Beauty and Power of Fractals ( 54 mins)

The groundbreaking documentary (accompanying this book), introduced by Arthur C. Clarke, has been shown in over 50 countries around the world. Twenty five years ago it brought the subject of fractals to the attention of the general public for the first time. The contributors to the film are joined in this comprehensive survey of fractal theory and practice by some other leading experts in the field. - Beautifully and copiously illustrated, this latest edition also comes with an e-copy of the groundbreaking TV documentary - Brings fractal geometry up to date by gathering the thoughts and enthusiasms of the foremost writers and researchers in the field - A new chapter from Benoit Mandelbrot, the mathematician and founder of fractal geometry, makes this a ‘must-read’ for anyone with an interest in fractal theory - Includes contributions from world leaders including Sir Arthur C Clarke, Michael Barnsley, and Ian Stewart ...

Arthur C. Clarke presents this unusual documentary on the mathematical discovery of the Mandelbrot Set (M-Set) in the visually spectacular world of fractal geometry. This show relates the science of the M-Set to nature in a way that seems to identify the hand of God in the design of the universe itself. Dr. Mandelbrot in 1980 discovered the infinitely complex geometrical shape called the Mandelbrot Set using a very simple equation with computers and graphics.

Arthur C. Clarke's soft-spoken style sets the "common man" at ease, and his pinpoint commentary makes the concept of fractals easy to understand. One need not be a stellar mathematician to grasp the concepts and why they are profound. The experts are trotted out, and they, too, explain fractal geometry in ways that are accessible to everyman.

Fractals are part of our lives, and maths informs everything that exists, whether natural or man-made.

When I saw this on TV several years ago, it reminded me of the Douglas Adams (of "Hitchhiker's Guide" fame) book "Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency." In the novel, a software engineer tries to create a program that sets the flapping of a bird's wings to music using mathematical equations. That is exactly what fractals seem to do; they describe events in nature in mathematical ways, and the section of "Colors" which discusses this is eye-opening.

Fractal DNA Memory and the Connection to God

Within the Fractal DNA memory is encoding from eons past, present, and possibly future. Making connection with such existence has been the goal since the beginning of man kind. The infinite repetition of pattern leads many to understand to composition of life being a large fractal hologram encompassing all matter. Over the next five minutes and 49 seconds you will see just how significant as well as insignificant we all are in the bigger picture…
