Holography

Holography (from the Greek "whole" + grafē, "writing, drawing") is a technique that allows the light scattered from an object to be recorded and later reconstructed so that when an imaging system (a camera or an eye) is placed in the reconstructed beam, an image of the object will be seen even when the object is no longer present. The image changes as the position and orientation of the viewing system changes in exactly the same way as if the object were still present, thus making the image appear three-dimensional. This effect can be seen in the figure on the right where the orientation of the mouse is significantly different in the two images and its position relative to other parts of the scene has changed. The holographic recording itself is not an image – it consists of an apparently random structure of either varying intensity, density or profile….

Holography is a technique which enables three-dimensional images to be made. It involves the use of a laser, interference, diffraction, light intensity recording and suitable illumination of the recording. The image changes as the position and orientation of the viewing system changes in exactly the same way as if the object were still present, thus making the image appear three-dimensional.

The holographic recording itself is not an image; it consists of an apparently random structure of either varying intensity, density or profile.

The Hungarian-British physicist Dennis Gabor (in Hungarian: Gábor Dénes), was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1971 "for his invention and development of the holographic method".His work, done in the late 1940s, built on pioneering work in the field of X-ray microscopy by other scientists including Mieczysław Wolfke in 1920 and WL Bragg in 1939.[ The discovery was an unexpected result of research into improving electron microscopes at the British Thomson-Houston Company in Rugby, England, and the company filed a patent in December 1947. The technique as originally invented is still used in electron microscopy, where it is known as electron holography, but optical holography did not really advance until the development of the laser in 1960.

Principle of Holography

1. Definition of Holography

Holography is a technique that allows the light scattered from an object to be recorded and later reconstructed so that when an imaging system (a camera or an eye) is placed in the reconstructed beam, an image of the object will be seen even when the object is no longer present. The image changes as the position and orientation of the viewing system changes in exactly the same way as if the object were still present, thus making the image appear three-dimensional. The holographic recording itself is not an image – it consists of an apparently random structure of either varying intensity, density or profile – an example can be seen below.

2. The Transmission Hologram

The coherent light from the laser is split to form an object beam and a reference beam. The light from the illuminated object and the reference beam form an interference pattern on the film. This pattern (hologram)  contains the information about the object which can then be viewed as a three dimensional image.

~ As with cutting-up a Hologram - you always retain the same image... a similar result happens... That if you cut-up a magnet, all it’s pieces retain a magnetic field. ~

Michael Talbots' book The Holographic Universe

It gives examples of the research and discoveries in hard science that have helped bring about the new paradigm. It also speaks of the need for caution too. Not knowing the many discoveries that were to come after his death, he erroneously concluded that the Universe was an illusion.

However, Dr. Edgar Mitchell's work with influential researchers on the Zero Point Field and the Quantum Hologram gives rise to an understanding of phase conjugate adaptive resonance (PCAR) which conclusively proves the Universe is a real thing, moving to a real arrow of time and is not an illusion at all but an absolutely amazing place. It is also not science-fiction. This is the working basis of our MRI machines and other technology.

 - The Concept of the Model was Developed by 2 scientists - David Bohm- a Physicist at the University of London and a Protégé of Einstein http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Bohm,  and a Stanford University Neurophysiologist Karl H. Pribram http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karl_H._Pribram

This is the full broadcast portion of the interview. It was continued in-studio with an additional 58-minute discussion which is available on our 86-minute DVD.

The holographic model allows us to conceptualize phenomena that have remained on the fringes of science -- synchronicities, psychic experiences, UFOs, poltergeists, spiritual experiences, states of higher consciousness. In part one of this two part program Michael Talbot discusses the holographic model of brain functioning and the "implicate order" model of quantum physics. He proposes that these two models combined explain many unsolved mysteries in both brain functioning (such as memory and vision) and quantum physics (such as the problem of hidden variables and quantum interconnectedness).

In part two of the DVD, Talbot discusses his own unusual experiences with poltergeist phenomena and UFOs. He suggests that the holographic model provides a means for understanding these experiences without falling into the twin traps of skeptical debunking or occult romanticism.

Michael Talbot is author of Mysticism and the New Physics, Beyond the Quantum, Your Past Lives and The Holographic Universe. He also authored four novels. This program was taped approximately six months before his untimely death in May 1992.

and a Stanford University Neurophysiologist Karl H. Pribram http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karl_H._Pribram

Whether Bohm and Pribram's holographic paradigm becomes accepted in science or dies an ignoble death remains to be seen, but it is safe to say that it has already had an influence on the thinking of many scientists. And even if it is found that the holographic model does not provide the best explanation for the instantaneous communications that seem to be passing back and forth between subatomic particles, at the very least, as noted by Basil Hiley, a physicist at Birbeck College in London, Aspect's findings 'indicate that we must be prepared to consider radically new views of reality'.

Karl Pribram - Holographic Brain - New Dimensions ( 1 Hr : 36 mins)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iQPh9Ozqozw&feature=relmfu

Pribram was drawn to the holographic model by the puzzle of how and where memories are stored in the brain. For decades numerous studies have shown that rather than being confined to a specific location, memories are dispersed throughout the brain. In a series of landmark experiments in the 1920s, brain scientist Karl Lashley found that no matter what portion of a rat's brain he removed he was unable to eradicate its memory of how to perform complex tasks it had learned prior to surgery. The only problem was that no one was able to come up with a mechanism that might explain this curious 'whole in every part' nature of memory storage.

In order to understand how abductions work and how can they be possible, we have to understand that we DO live in a holographic reality, we are consciousness first and foremost and our brain is just a hologram reader. The mind is not the brain and the memory does not dwell in the physical brain.

Holographic Data Storage Technology

Definition of: Holographic Storage

An optical technology that records data as digital holograms. DVD-sized holographic discs that hold terabytes of data are expected to become a consumer medium in the 2014-2015 time frame. Although research in this area dates back to the 1960s, the first commercial product was InPhase's Tapestry drive in 2010 (see Tapestry). Holographic discs may look like DVD or Blu-ray discs, but the technology is dramatically different.

T
wo Lasers Write the Hologram

The first laser (data laser) is beamed through a matrix of LCD shutters, called a "spatial light modulator," into an optical region. The shutters are opened and closed based on the binary pattern of the matrix of data being stored. For example, using a matrix of 1,200 bits on each side, the "data page" would hold one 1.44 megabits.

The second laser (reference laser) is angled into and intersects the data laser at the optical site. If the angle or frequency of the reference laser is changed, another hologram can be written into that same area, overlapping and filling the same three-dimensional volume as the first hologram. In fact, as hard as it is to imagine, each bit occupies the full volume of the material.

Theoretically, thousands of holographic data pages can be written into the same optical space; however, the first commercial drive writes 330 overlapping holograms.

One Laser Reads the Hologram

The page is read by directing just the reference laser back into the hologram. The light is diffracted into a copy of the binary data that is sensed by a matrix of CCD sensors. See micro-holographic, PRISM, HVD and optical disc.
